WINNERS & LOSERS—2004

As we come to the close of another year and the close of another election, who were the biggest winners and losers?

WINNERS

1. The biggest winner was Senator-elect Barak Obama from Illinois. He will be the only Black and only one of five Blacks to ever serve in the U.S. Senate. Don’t allow yourself to become the Black senator from Illinois. Blacks are slightly over 15% of the population of Illinois, so almost 85% of your constituency is non-Black. Don’t allow the Black radical left to highjack you into being their spokesman. Your job is to represent your state, not just Blacks within your state. Finally, please don’t allow yourself to become tainted with the rantings of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). You have a bright future in America, not just a Black future!

2. Donna Brazille. One of the sharpest minds in politics. She made a courageous stand on principle. She was offered thousands of dollars to come on board with the Kerry/Edwards campaign, but didn’t think they were serious about the Black community. So, she decided to sit out this election. Finally, a Democrat with principles.

3. Kweisi Mfume, former president & CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.). He was smart enough to jump ship before his former organization begins to publicly implode. After masterfully, righting a storied organization mired in scandal; he sees the storm clouds gathering and sought to keep his reputation and integrity in tact by leaving before the tornado hits.

4. Bush/Cheney. Not only did they win a majority of the popular vote (not done since 1988), but even in states that they lost, they still showed improvements from four years ago. This was an astonishing feat.

5. Al Sharpton. He has finally eclipsed Jesse Jackson and has become the Black leader for the Democratic party.

6. Bill Cosby. Thanks Cos!

LOSERS

1. Unquestionably, the biggest losers was a tie between John Kerry and the Democratic Party. John Kerry ran the most inept campaign in political history. I thought former vice president Al Gore’s presidential campaign would be the all time low water mark; but Kerry made Gore’s campaign look like a model campaign. Kerry’s campaign had no direction, no vision, and no sense of purpose.

2. The Democratic Party proved itself to have lost it’s relevance on the national political landscape. They raised more money, had larger voter turnout than ever before, but lost a majority of voters and a majority of states. They managed to do all this plus totally alienate the Black community.

3. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.). Because of their overt partnership with the Democratic party and the Kerry/Edwards campaign, Bush is the only president not to meet with them. They will continue to be losers as long as Julian Bond is part of their leadership.

4. George Soros bet the farm on this election and lost. ‘Nuf said.

5. Michael Moore. Hopefully we will see less of Moore!

6. Jesse Jackson has once again shown how irrelevant he has become. He has been relegated to that of an aging ambulance chaser. The most recent example is his foraging into the radical left’s allegation that Bush/Cheney somehow stole the election in Ohio. It’s kind of sad to see Jesse sink to such a low.

7. Koffi Anan. The oil for food scandal has cost him his integrity.

8. Charles Taylor (former president of Liberia), was forced to leave his country looking down the barrel of a U.S. held gun. What took so long?

9. Jean Betrand Aristide (former president of Haiti). See above.

10. Tom Joyner & Tavis Smiley have continued to overshadow their good charitable works by their continued alignment with the radical left.

11. Russell Simmons & P. Diddy. Stay out of politics!
